A new bronze sculpture of the Black Hills State University mascot, Sting, now adorns the front entrance to the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center.
Black Hills State University will host opera performances June 25 in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall and June 26 in Woodburn Theatre, as part of the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute. Both performances are at 7:30 pm and tickets will be available at the door.

Talented singers from across the United States and Canada will sing a variety of operatic arias Saturday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the Black Hills State University campus as part of the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute.

The Friends of Music, an organization which was first formed in 2003 when the Clare and Josef Meier Hall opened on the campus of Black Hills State University, strives to bring the BHSU community and the region together through musical events and programs while providing support for the University music programs and scholarships for students.
The Office of Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University has released the dean’s list for the spring 2010 semester. A total of 622 students maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or above while taking at least 12 credit hours to be named to the list this semester. Students are listed by hometown or current place of residence.
Black Hills State University will host the Yellow Jacket Farmers Market at the BHSU Bookstore every Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. beginning June 16.
The SD Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University recently received a $2,000 grant in support of its mission to provide business assistance and training to current and aspiring entrepreneurs from the Rapid City Branch of American Association of University Women.
Elaine Doll-Dunn, writer, marathon runner and educator from Spearfish, inspired the attendees at the first Celebrating Women in Business Luncheon hosted at Black Hills State University by the South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) with her keynote address. More than 100 people gathered to celebrate the successes and achievements of women in business. Linda Raabe, president and CEO of the Rapid City Area Chamber, also presented a humorous and very intentional message on “Creating Credibility in Today’s Business World.”
