Each year the BHSU rodeo team sells calendars and donates a portion of the proceeds to benefit area programs. This year they chose to donate money to the state Ranchers Relief Fund, a fund established last October to provide support and financial assistant to those in the agriculture industry impacted by Winter Storm Atlas.

The Black Hills State University track and cross country program is organizing the 29th Annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk Sunday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Lyle Hare Stadium. The race is one of the final events of the week-long American Indian Awareness celebration. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with categories for all ages.

Brian Shaw, former Yellow Jacket basketball player, 2004 graduate and 2011 and 2013 World’s Strongest Man, returned to the court he once played on last weekend to accept the 2013 Young Alumni Achievement Award. He was presented the award during halftime of the men’s basketball home opener

Brian Shaw, a 2004 graduate of BHSU, was recently named the World's Strongest Man, earning the title for the second time in three years. Shaw will return to BHSU this month as he accepts this year's Young Alumni Achievement Award.  Shaw will be honored during halftime of the home opener of the men’s basketball game Saturday, Nov. 16.

Black Hills State University’s annual Swarm Days parade and homecoming football game is rescheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 19. Originally scheduled for Oct. 5, the Swarm Days festivities were cancelled due to Winter Storm Atlas that hit the Black Hills dumping more than three feet of snow in some areas of the Northern Hills.
