The Black Hills State University women’s rodeo team captured the Great Plains Region Year End Championship Title at the final rodeo of the regular season in the Great Plains Region at the Blue Hawk Stampede, Dickinson, N.D. The men’s team concluded the season in third place in the region. Glen Lammers, BHSU Rodeo Coach, was also named Coach of the Year for the Great Plains Region.
Black Hills State University women’s rodeo team finished first at the two South Dakota State University Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeos held April 7-10 in Brookings, maintaining their lead in the Great Plains Region.
More than 300 Black Hills State University students, faculty and staff, parents, and community members attended the recent BHSU Cowboys and Candlelight Dinner and Auction annual fundraiser for the BHSU Rodeo Team. The event raised nearly $14,000 from a live and silent auction and donations.

The Black Hills State University women’s rodeo team the captured the women’s team title with 455 points edging out a very competitive Dickinson State University team which earned 425 points during the Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede past weekend at the Seven Down Arenas near Spearfish. Competitors from 12 different universities covering a five-state region known as the Great Plains Region roped, rode, and raced for team titles and their respective event championship titles.
The Black Hills State University Rodeo Team will host the 2011 Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede April 2-3. Performances will be held at the Seven Down Arena, located just outside of Spearfish, Saturday, April 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 3 at 1 p.m.

Black Hills State University rodeo team members Cole Fulton, Miller, and Joey Painter, Buffalo, tallied the highest individual point totals for the weekend to earn the All-Around honors at the North Dakota State University Bison Stampede this past weekend.
The Black Hills State University Rodeo Teams, which competed in Ames, Iowa, this past weekend at the 48th Annual Cyclone Stampede hosted by Iowa State University, both earned a second place finish and are seeking to move up in the standings.
