Warren J. Wilson, director of the South Dakota Board of Regents’ Information Systems, has been named to a joint appointment as chief information technology officer for Black Hills State University and executive director of the South Dakota Library Network (SDLN). Wilson will replace Arnie Hemmingson, chief information officer, who is retiring this spring. Hemmingson has led the computer and information technology department at BHSU since 1985.

trolley_thumb.jpg BHSU students now have another option for transportation in the Spearfish area. The Spearfish Trolley, operated by Prairie Hills Transit, will begin its route Thursday, Feb. 22. Trolley hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Preparation for members of the Alternative Spring Break team is neither easy nor inexpensive; however, recent action by a community business leader once again exemplifies the great generosity of the Black Hills community.

He has also been invited to give two presentations at the annual convention of the Texas Community College Teachers Association.

The spring 2007 semester enrollment at Black Hills State University is at its highest point in more than a decade. BHSU President Kay Schallenkamp attributes the record high to a number of factors including improved retention, increased number of course delivery options, and an increase in the number of transfer students.
