The Residence Hall Association will host its fifth annual semiformal dinner dance Saturday, March 24 in the Student Union Jacket Legacy Room. The evening will include dinner, dancing and excitement.

Hugh Palmer, BHSU Class of 1969, was recently named president of the BHSU Alumni Association board of directors. Palmer, from Sundance, Wyo., will serve a two-year term as president of the board. Two Spearfish residents were also named to the board of directors. Julie Benedict, Class of 1995, and Jill Sutter, Class of 2001, will each serve a four-year term on the board.

The annual District 6 National History Day Competition will once again be held on the Black Hills State University campus. The competition, which is open to area students in grades six through twelve, will begin Thursday, March 22 at 1 p.m. This year’s theme is “Triumph & Tragedy in History.”

The 9th Annual Black Hills Research Symposium will be held in the Jacket Legacy Room of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union on the Black Hills State University campus March 13-15. The symposium includes student research presentations as well as a keynote address by Dr. Ben Perryman, assistant director for the Cardiovascular Institute at the University of South Dakota.
