Mallory Petersen, junior Black Hills State University instrumental music instruction major from Pierre, was the recipient of the 2008 Family Scholarship from the South Dakota Department of Corrections.  Petersen was awarded a $1,000 scholarship at their annual fall conference in Spearfish.

The Center for American Indian Studies (CAIS) at Black Hills State University is sponsoring the second annual American Indian College Scholarship Gala Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Belle Luce Ballroom above Roma’s Ristorante in Spearfish. The reception will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m.

Aubrey Baxter competes in shot put at the 2008 BHSU Frostbite InvitationalAubrey Baxter, BHSU junior from Redfield, has qualified for the Olympic Trials in the shot put with a put of 54-00.50. Baxter, a psychology major, is the first BHSU athlete to reach this Olympic milestone.
