Tyson Karn, Black Hills State University senior physical education major from Rapid City, earned the 2010 Outstanding Major of the Year designation. This marks three years in a row that BHSU students have received this national recognition.

The academic affairs office at Black Hills State University has released the dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester. A total of 587 students were named to the dean’s list. Students must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or above while taking at least 12 credit hours to be named to the dean’s list. Students are listed by hometown or current place of residence.

The South Dakota District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today the Black Hills State University Foundation in Spearfish has been awarded a $750,000 grant to establish the South Dakota Women’s Business Center. The funding, which comes from the SBA, is provided to economic development organizations who directly assist entrepreneurs in South Dakota with special emphasis on women.

Black Hills State University students and the Spearfish community displayed their homecoming spirit during the recent Swarm Day parade. The theme for the parade was “Starring Sting” and participants were asked to show the Yellow Jacket mascot in the leading role of movie favorites.
