Black Hills State University is currently accepting students for the 2012 Summer Exploration Institute (SEI) to be held July 9-13. The Institute will offer two age categories: 7-10 years and 11 -14 years.

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO), located on the campus of Black Hills State University, in collaboration with the School of Business and the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at BHSU, presented a financial program at the Red Cloud Indian School. The program, held in April, emphasized personal finance and money management and was presented to students in Tim Sullivan's high school classroom.

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University, in collaboration with Regional Health, will host a 5K/10K Run & Walk Saturday, June 16 in Spearfish. The run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. at the BHSU Lyle Hare Stadium, continue on the Spearfish Bike Path, and finish at the BHSU Lyle Hare Stadium. The 10K will start at the BHSU Lyle Hare Stadium, continue on the Spearfish bike path to Spearfish Canyon and also finish at the Lyle Hare Stadium. Event day registration will be from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.

Black Hills State University will host the Gala Celebration of the Arts, Saturday, June 9, in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.  The Gala is the opening event for the Johanna Meier Opera Theater Institute, a two-week program for advanced singers from across the United States. The program will be an enjoyable variety of short selections from the worlds of music, dance, and literature, as well as renowned Greek pianist Charis Dimaras.

The Black Hills Singers will host a series of concerts in the region next week.  They will perform a variety of styles from German Baroque songs to traditional African American spirituals and contemporary settings of European folk songs. The concerts will feature choral music by Johann Michael Bach, Josef Rheinberger, Gerald Finzi, and several contemporary arrangers of folk songs and spirituals.

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University, in collaboration with Regional Health, will present “Vitamin D, Vitamin B, What’s Best for Me – Vitamins and Supplements” as the topic of the next Healthy Bodies/Healthy Business seminar. The first presentation will take place Tuesday, May 29 from noon to 1 p.m. in Spearfish at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center, room 206, on the BHSU campus. The Rapid City session will be Thursday, May 31 from noon to 1 p.m. in the lower level of the Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House, 224 Elk Street.
