Black Hills State University faculty, staff and students will be swinging, jiving and tapping their feet as they battle it out for the coveted BHSU mirror ball trophy while at the same time raising money for local ranchers. The Dancing with the Staff, a spoof of ABC’s popular “Dancing with the Stars” show, takes place Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jacket Legacy Room of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union.

For more than a decade, Black Hills State University accounting students have been putting their classroom learning to practice by assisting area residents prepare their taxes through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.Through Tuesday, March 4, the students will once again volunteer their time and expertise to help students, the elderly, low income individuals, and veterans file their taxes.

The Black Hills State University Theatre and Music departments will present “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Performances are Thursday, Feb. 20 – Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m. in the Pangburn Hall Theatre.

A hands-on workshop, Website and WordPress Basics will be held Thursday, March 6 at the University Center-Rapid City in the Mac Lab, room 103. The workshop is divided into two sessions: the morning session, Website Basics, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the afternoon session, Create a Website using WordPress, will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Black Hills State University is hosting a camp Saturday, Feb. 22 that will give high schoolers a chance to experience firsthand what the healthcare industry has to offer. Scrubs Camp is a free, day-long event where students will hear from a variety of healthcare professionals who will discuss what they do and how they got into their professions.

Four Black Hills State University professors along with several other Spearfish residents will share their stories of immigration to the United States through an exhibit at the Matthews Opera House Gallery titled “Over Land & Sea: Immigration Stories of Spearfish.”

The opening reception for the exhibit is Friday, Feb. 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the Matthews Opera House Gallery. The exhibit will be up through Feb. 22.
