Black Hills State University will host the 26th annual Lakota Omniciye Wacipi (powwow) April 17-19 at the Donald E. Young Sports & Fitness Center Field House as part of American Indian Awareness Week which begins April 14. The theme for this year is “Celebrating American Indian Sovereignty.”

Black Hills State University will host the annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk fundraiser Saturday, April 18. The event, an integral part of Indian Awareness Week at BHSU, raises funds to support a yearly scholarship presented to a Native American sophomore who demonstrates outstanding academic ability and leadership.

Jaret at SanfordBlack Hills State University will host the 11th annual Black Hills Research Symposium in Clare and Josef Meier Hall on the BHSU campus March 24-26. The symposium includes student research presentations as well as a keynote address by Dr. Jaret Heise of the Sanford Lab at Homestake.
