Scholar-athletes at Black Hills State University have impressive grade point averages (GPAs). Jhett Albers, director of athletics, said BHSU scholar-athlete GPA statistics are impressive every year but even more impressive this year because BHSU has increased the number of scholar-athletes participating in the University’s athletic programs.
BHSU will induct three athletes and two contributors into the BHSU Rodeo Hall of Fame during the Cowboys and Candlelight Dinner and Auction Saturday, March 28 at 5 p.m. at the Spearfish Holiday Inn and Convention Center.
Sunday, April 12 marks the 30th year athletes and community members will gather to honor the memory of a Black Hills State student during the annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Walk/Run.
Nearly 40 former Black Hills State University track and field and cross country runners returned to campus recently to participate in the 23rd Annual Stadium Sports Grill Alumni Mile weekend.

Black Hills State University, which has the largest teacher preparation program in the state and is recognized for its legacy of preparing teachers, recently released a campaign “All Inspired by Teachers” honoring teachers for their positive influence.
Black Hills State University will once again honor those individuals who have made significant contributions to the University’s rodeo program. Nominations are currently being accepted for the BHSU Rodeo Hall of Fame.
Black Hills State University alumni and supporters, including former track and field and cross country athletes, are invited to participate in the 23rd Annual Alumni Mile weekend Jan. 16-17.
The first-ever Black Hills State University “Beeline” drumline will debut at the BHSU football game Saturday, Oct. 18. The Beeline will first appear at the tailgate at 11:30 a.m. in the Young Center Parking Lot followed by cheers and cadences throughout the 1 p.m. football game against Adams State.
The Black Hills State University campus and community celebrate the annual Swarm Days this week with events influenced by the “Sting lightning” theme. Events include carnivals, pep rally, a hike, alumni awards, homecoming football game and parade.
