The Office of Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University has released the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester.  A total of 697 students maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or above while taking at least 12 credit hours to be named to the list this semester. Students are listed by hometown or current place of residence.

For Kjaersti (Bushilla) Roberts teaching is not simply helping students succeed in class, but providing them the tools to be successful throughout their lives.Roberts, who earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BHSU, was recently honored with a Crystal Apple Award for her work as a junior high language arts teacher in the Klamath County School District in Klamath Falls, Ore.

More than 400 candidates will be recognized for graduation during Black Hills State University’s 165th commencement ceremony Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center. Candidates for the spring 2013 BHSU graduation include 45 master’s degree candidates, 362 bachelor’s candidates and 22 associate degree candidates.

A workshop, “Mobile Media Marketing,” will be held at the University Center-Rapid City Wednesday, Apr. 17 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in room 125. The class will also be available via the Dakota Digital Network (DDN) at Northern State University, South Dakota State University, Dakota State University, University of South Dakota and the University Center- Sioux Falls from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CST.

Every day millions of people around the world go hungry. It could be a family member, neighbor or colleague. An event sponsored by the Black Hills State University Multicultural Committee and the Psychology Club will raise awareness to the fact that hunger happens everywhere, locally and around the world. 

The Evening of Hunger Awareness is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 from 5-7 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room.
