A mobile museum exhibit will visit Black Hills State University as part of its spring tour in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room April 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., including an 11 a.m. presentation that further explores the topic.  The exhibit is part of TRACES Center for History and Culture, a Midwest/World War II history museum based in St. Paul, Minn.

Over 100 mathematicians and mathematics educators will attend the annual conference of the Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) April 25-26 on the Black Hills State University campus. This is the first time BHSU will host this regional conference.

Representatives from BHSU and five other South Dakota universities will host an Information Night Thursday, April 24 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Higher Education Center-West River in Rapid City. The representatives will be available to discuss course, degree, and financial aid options for Rapid City area students.

 A series of public lectures are planned as 200 scientists from around the world gather in Lead this month to plan experiments for the world’s deepest underground laboratory. The public presentations by scientists attending the workshop will be held in Lead, at Black Hills State University and at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Black Hills State University will host the annual Kevin Whirlwind Horse Memorial Run/Walk fundraiser Saturday, April 19.  The event, part of Indian Awareness Week at BHSU, raises funds to support a yearly scholarship presented to a Native American sophomore who demonstrates outstanding academic ability and leadership skills.

The 10th annual Black Hills Research Symposium (BHRS) will be held April 1-3 in the BHSU Student Union Jacket Legacy Room. The symposium will include student research presentations as well as a keynote address by Dr. Jose Alonso, laboratory director for the new Sanford Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory at the former Homestake Mine in Lead.
