The Office of Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University has released the dean’s list for the fall of 2013 semester.  A total of 722 students maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or above while taking at least 12 credit hours to be named to the list this semester.

Adam Merchen loves history, whether it is history books, movies or simply someone relaying a story of a historical event. The students in Kelly Kirk’s U.S. History course were able to see Merchen’s enthusiasm firsthand during the fall semester. Merchen, a resident of the Northern Hills Training Center, was one of several community members who were able to expand their knowledge through the Black Hills State University Visitor Pass program.

A Black Hills State University geology class received a new perspective on the area’s geological formations when they spent a day in December touring the 300 level of the Sanford Underground Research Facility, the former Homestake Mine. Dr. Abigail Domagall’s students were the first from BHSU to have an opportunity to go underground.

The students presented their five-year sustainable tourism plan earlier this month to Rita Pazour, marketing/communications specialist for the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce.
