Black Hills State University faculty, staff and students will be swinging, jiving and tapping their feet as they battle it out for the coveted BHSU mirror ball trophy while at the same time raising money for local ranchers. The Dancing with the Staff, a spoof of ABC’s popular “Dancing with the Stars” show, takes place Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jacket Legacy Room of the David B. For more than a decade, Black Hills State University accounting students have been putting their classroom learning to practice by assisting area residents prepare their taxes through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.Through Tuesday, March 4, the students will once again volunteer their time and expertise to help students, the elderly, low income individuals, and veterans file their taxes.

The Office of Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University is pleased to introduce a series of faculty presentations titled “Celebrating Accomplishments.” Dr. Adam Gaffey, assistant professor of rhetoric and philosophy, begins the series Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 3:30 p.m. with his talk “Visualizing Washington’s Union: Repetition and Display of a New ‘Farewell Address’ for the Civil War.”

Four Black Hills State University professors along with several other Spearfish residents will share their stories of immigration to the United States through an exhibit at the Matthews Opera House Gallery titled “Over Land & Sea: Immigration Stories of Spearfish.”

The opening reception for the exhibit is Friday, Feb. 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the Matthews Opera House Gallery. The exhibit will be up through Feb. 22.
