the South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) Women’s Business Center, located on the campus of Black Hills State University has been awarded a three year renewal grant by the SBA (Small Business Administration) Office of Women’s Business Ownership, Washington, DC, upon successful completion of the initial five-year grant cycle. The three year cycle will be extended continuously upon meeting grant objectives.
BHSU students are being challenged to create marketing concepts using the University’s new tagline ‘Where Anything is Possible’ in a campus-wide contest. The winning entry has the possibility of being shown regionally during the Super Bowl or being placed on a billboard.
Black Hills State University applauds two employees named to the list of the 11 Fabulous Women of 2015 in the January/February issue of Black Hills Woman Magazine. Dr. Urla Marcus, director of the BHSU Center for American Indian Studies, and Helen Merriman, director of the South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO), the Women’s Business Center, are among 11 regional women named to the annual list.
The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity received a donation from the Kay S. Jorgensen Donor Advised Fund of the Black Hills Area Community Foundation. This donation supports the SD CEO Women’s Business Center’s mission of providing comprehensive training, education, and business assistance, support, and counseling for aspiring and established entrepreneurs. The SD CEO is located on the campus of Black Hills State University, provides services statewide and is the only women’s business center in South Dakota, partially funded by the Small Business Administration.

Two students from the Black Hills State University Honors Program will defend their capstone projects on Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. in Jonas Hall 110 as part of the Geek Speak lecture series. The students’ diverse topics include tournament theory in movies and an allegory on the decision to become a United Methodist pastor.
