Black Hills State University music and theatre graduate Tyler Raad will perform a concert Friday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus. A reception will follow the performers. Admission is by donation which will benefit scholarships for students of the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute.
But Johnson soon realized that while he joined a long listof high profile celebrities they all had the same goal: making the world abetter place.
When the 36th annual Lakota Nation Invitational tips off Wednesday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Black Hills State University alumni Bryan Brewer and Dave Archambault will have front row seats, just as they did at the first tournament they organized in 1977.
The two helped found the LNI, at first named the All IndianTournament, as a way to provide play time for their basketball players. Neitheranticipated the legacy they were beginning.
Black Hills State University will once again honor those individuals who have made significant contributions to the University’s rodeo program.
Nominations are currently being accepted for the BHSU Rodeo Hall of Fame. Those eligible include: stand-out athletes with emphasis on national performers, significant contributors to the BHSU rodeo program, and former BHSU rodeo coaches/advisors.
For Black Hills State University graduate Jake Miller, it’s not only the science behind genetic diseases that he’s passionate about, it’s the faces behind these diseases.
“As a researcher, you see these families and how this disease affects their lives – it’s really powerful to see that,” he said. Miller recently returned to BHSU to discuss his research with BHSU students and faculty.
Black Hills State University recently announced a gift of $54,000 from Wengert for music and art scholarships.
