The grand opening for the Black Hills State University Joy (Proctor) Krautschun Alumni/Foundation Center is from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, with the dedication ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. in the new center at 1531 St. Joseph St. in Spearfish, south of Lyle Hare Stadium and Ida Henton Park on the BHSU campus.

Community members, faculty, staff, students, and alumni gathered on the Black Hills State University campus this weekend to celebrate the inauguration of BHSU’s tenth president, Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr.  The theme for the inauguration was “Spirit of the Hills” honoring the history, geography, beauty and the people of the Black Hills.

The faculty, staff, students, and alumni of Black Hills State University invite community members to join the celebration of the inauguration of Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center on the BHSU campus. Jackson is the tenth president of BHSU.

In 1969 a group of young women attended freshmen orientation at Black Hills State University. Forty-five years later, that same group of friends reunited and spent a weekend revisiting the campus and the memories they made during their time at BHSU.

Oretta Jastorff, the wife of the late Marvin (Marv) Jastorff, Class of ’59, donated $10,000 to establish the Marvin Jastorff Scholarship Fund to provide assistance to future generations of Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets.

A public reception and presentation for Donald Montileaux is planned at the Black Hills State University E.Y. Berry Library. The library recently purchased a piece of Montileaux’s artwork, “Con.Fron.Ta.Tion,” through the Lyndle Dunn fund, which is displayed at the library.
