The Black Hills State University women’s rodeo team the captured the women’s team title with 455 points edging out a very competitive Dickinson State University team which earned 425 points during the Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede past weekend at the Seven Down Arenas near Spearfish. Competitors from 12 different universities covering a five-state region known as the Great Plains Region roped, rode, and raced for team titles and their respective event championship titles.
The Black Hills State University Dance Marathon student organization has revised the schedule for the Sting-A-Thon fundraising event Saturday, April 2 in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Black Hills State University accounting students are volunteering their time to assist students, elderly, low-income individuals, and veterans with tax preparation and filing as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Students in instructor Robin Meyerink’s Advanced Income Tax class had to pass three levels of certification in order to volunteer for the program. So far the students have filed nearly 150 tax returns.

Black Hills State University student Mary Jo May, senior social science education major from Kyle, earned the opportunity of a lifetime through the prestigious Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS) program.
