Black Hills State University presents a New Music Extravaganza concert Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall. The Extravaganza features new music composed by, and written for, Spearfish composers and musicians including the premiere of a piece inspired by the science at the Sanford Underground Research Facility.
Before voice synthesizers, turntables and electronic sound mixers, poetry provided the genius of sound effects. Professor of English Dr. Nicholas Wallerstein will present a poetry appreciation lecture Thursday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. in Jonas Hall 110.

An ad created by Black Hills State University student Bryce Boser, mass communication major from Box Elder, won a University marketing contest and his ad will air regionally Sunday during the Super Bowl.
Boser was one of 12 finalists in the “Where Anything is Possible” marketing contest at BHSU.

Black Hills State University applauds two employees named to the list of the 11 Fabulous Women of 2015 in the January/February issue of Black Hills Woman Magazine. Dr. Urla Marcus, director of the BHSU Center for American Indian Studies, and Helen Merriman, director of the South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO), the Women’s Business Center, are among 11 regional women named to the annual list.

Black Hills State University faculty and staff brought more than good tidings to their annual Christmas reception this year. BHSU President Tom Jackson, Jr., and the administration team encouraged faculty and staff to bring canned and boxed food to the holiday reception to benefit the Spearfish Food Pantry.
