Black Hills State University officially began its year-long Quasquicentennial celebration today with the Founders’ Day Luncheon in honor of the date the University was founded – Feb. 27, 1883. Paul Higbee, author of Black Hills State University - 125th Anniversary, and photographer Les Voorhis, signed copies of the book, which was available for purchase for the first time.
Dr. Warren J. Wilson, Black Hills State University chief information officer and executive director of the South Dakota Library Network (SDLN), has recently become a member of the program committee for EDUCAUSE 2009.
Dr. Annette Ryerson, assistant business professor at Black Hills State University and Christine Coolidge, staff member for the Center for Business, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism Services (CBETS) at BHSU, recently presented the results of a survey in cooperation with the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Convention and Visitors Bureau and the BHSU Center for Business Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

An employee fundraising drive is underway at Black Hills State University. In honor of the Quasquicentennial, BHSU is asking that employees consider donating $125, one dollar for each year since the founding of the University in 1883.
Black Hills State University theatre students and faculty were recently awarded certificates of merit at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) competition.
Black Hills State University was recently named to the national President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service. This is the second consecutive year BHSU has been nationally recognized for its exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth.
