Annabelle Gurwitch, host of a national reality show that encourages green living, will speak at Black Hills State University Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in Meier Recital hall. Her presentation is open to the public at no charge. This is the first of several presentations dealing with sustainability that will be sponsored by the Madeline Young Speaker Series at BHSU.

Dakota Roots, a web-based program to assist individuals who are interested in career opportunities in South Dakota, has helped over 400 people from 43 states find those opportunities and relocate to the state. Over 2,000 people from all 50 states, including many BHSU alumni, have shown interest in moving to South Dakota if given the right career opportunity. Nearly 40 businesses have also expressed interest in starting up or expanding into the state.
The Black Hills State Players will present a children’s theatre performance of Assignment: Earth, What Kids Can Do To Save the Planet. The show, which will be performed by a group of children from the Spearfish community, will premiere in the Woodburn Hall Theatre Friday, June 13 at 2 p.m. Additional performances will be held Saturday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m.
The South Dakota Board of Regents will award seven mini-grants to faculty members across the state who have developed research projects to support science, engineering, and education efforts associated with the new Sanford Underground Laboratory at Homestake.

A retirement celebration will be held May 31 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spearfish to honor Charles Follette, who recently retired from Black Hills State University where he was a speech professor.
