Black Hills State University is making changes to accommodate the greatly increased use of laptop computers by students. A survey conducted as students moved into residence halls this fall revealed that nearly 90 percent of students brought a computer with them. That number is consistent with a national and regional trend in recent years.

The South Dakota District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today the Black Hills State University Foundation in Spearfish has been awarded a $750,000 grant to establish the South Dakota Women’s Business Center. The funding, which comes from the SBA, is provided to economic development organizations who directly assist entrepreneurs in South Dakota with special emphasis on women.

This summer students and staff from the Network and Computer Services Office at BHSU visited the lab to access its IT needs. NCS members participated in a surface tour, which included a tour of the data center.
