Black Hills State University has planned a week-long celebration of Earth Day filled with events to promote awareness of the environment and sustainable living.
The Alternative Spring Break team of eight students and two advisors will discuss their trip and the life-changing experiences they had in Guatemala during a presentation Friday, April 11 in the Trump Room of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union. There will be two presentations the first is at noon and the second will follow at 12:30 p.m.
Dr. Rob Girtz, assistant professor of economics at Black Hills State University, will present a lecture “Wages, Education, and Personality” Thursday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Hall, Room 205.
Black Hills State University faculty, staff, students and community members will have an opportunity to hear from former First Lady Laura Bush, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and several other world leaders during a Leadercast Live simulcast Friday, May 9 in the Jacket Legacy Room of the David B. Miller Student Union.

Next week, a team of eight students will travel to Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala to volunteer with Sharing the Dream, a non-profit organization that promotes fair trade and community sustainability.
