Black Hills State University staff members Dr. Annette Ryerson, assistant professor of business and technology, and Thomas Dunn, director for the Center of Tourism Research, recently submitted final research findings of two studies to the Yankton Convention and Visitors Bureau and the managers of the Lewis and Clark Recreation Area.

The BHSU Reading Council received numerous accolades at the recent South Dakota Reading Council Conference. For the ninth year, the group received the South Dakota Reading Council’s Golden Seal Award. In addition, several of the council members had the opportunity to present at the conference, two BHSU students received scholarships and three BHSU Reading Council members were elected as officers and committee chairpersons.

Dr. Priscilla Romkema has been named dean of the College of Business and Technology at Black Hills State University. Romkema, who joined the BHSU faculty in 1997, is currently chair of the management and marketing department and will begin her duties as dean this summer.

Black Hills State University students who went to New Orleans, La. over their spring break to assist with hurricane relief efforts will share their stories, photos, and video about their service work Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. in Jonas Hall, room 202 on the BHSU campus.

Beth Azevedo has been named director of admissions at Black Hills State University. Azevedo, who has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business services from BHSU as well as a master’s degree in information systems, began working in the admissions office three years ago.

This year the symposium featured 17 students who presented poster sessions and 13 students who offered oral presentations. Dr. Ben Perryman, director of Sanford Research/University of South Dakota was the keynote speaker.
