Black Hills State University faculty member Dr. Andrey Reznikov, associate professor in the department of humanities, recently attended and presented research at the 18th annual Society for the Interdisciplinary Study of Social Imagery (SISSI) conference March 13-15 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The conference’s theme was “The Image of the Outsider in Literature, Media, and Society.”
Prominent advertising executive Kirk Kirkpatrick will present “Advertising in 2020: Innovation in Communication” Monday, April 28 at 1 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.

Black Hills State University recently hosted the tenth annual Black Hills Research Symposium. The symposium is a conference which showcases the research of undergraduate students at BHSU in a variety of topics from the different academic areas.
A mobile museum exhibit will visit Black Hills State University as part of its spring tour in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room April 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., including an 11 a.m. presentation that further explores the topic. The exhibit is part of TRACES Center for History and Culture, a Midwest/World War II history museum based in St. Paul, Minn.
The Black Hills State University Concert Band will present their final concert of the year Sunday, April 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the recital hall Clare and Josef Meier Hall.
Saints Rising, a documentary about the reconstruction and rebuilding efforts in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, will be presented Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in Jonas Academic Hall room 305 on the Black Hills State University campus.
Steve Babbitt, Black Hills State University mass communications professor, is currently exhibiting two of his photographs in Street Photography, the newest international exhibition of photographic fine art in The Center of Fine Art Photography, in the Poudre River Art Center in Fort Collins, Colo.
Over 100 mathematicians and mathematics educators will attend the annual conference of the Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) April 25-26 on the Black Hills State University campus. This is the first time BHSU will host this regional conference.

Representatives from BHSU and five other South Dakota universities will host an Information Night Thursday, April 24 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Higher Education Center-West River in Rapid City. The representatives will be available to discuss course, degree, and financial aid options for Rapid City area students.
Over 50 school districts from across the United States will conduct interviews during the annual Black Hills Teacher Job Fair Monday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center.
The E.Y. Berry Library-Learning Center at Black Hills State University will celebrate National Library Week April 13-19. In honor of the celebration, the BHSU library will offer amnesty to anyone with overdue fines during the week.
