Six Black Hills State University student senators recently attended Students for Higher Education Days (SHED) in Pierre. The BHSU student leaders attended meetings with the Board of Regents and Student Federation, testified before the Senate Appropriations Committee, listened to House and Senate debates, heard Governor Michael Rounds speak, and met with various legislators.

Black Hills State University officially began its year-long Quasquicentennial celebration today with the Founders’ Day Luncheon in honor of the date the University was founded – Feb. 27, 1883. Paul Higbee, author of Black Hills State University - 125th Anniversary, and photographer Les Voorhis, signed copies of the book, which was available for purchase for the first time.

Black Hills State University will host over 100 mathematicians and mathematics educators during the annual conference of the Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) April 25-26. This is the first time the conference will be held on the BHSU campus.
