Black Hills State University, which has a legacy of providing high-quality innovative teacher preparation educational experiences, is expanding an initiative that increases the amount of time future teachers spend in public classrooms.  Already in place for elementary education students, BHSU is moving forward with a model that will place secondary educators in the classrooms for a full year rather than a half year.

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University, in collaboration with Regional Health, hosted 46 participants in the 5K/10K Run & Walk held last Saturday at the Lyle Hare Stadium on the BHSU campus. The event was the culmination of the Healthy Bodies Healthy Business series and raised funds to further the mission of the SD CEO.

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University, in collaboration with Regional Health, will host a 5K/10K Run & Walk Saturday, June 16 in Spearfish. The run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. at the BHSU Lyle Hare Stadium, continue on the Spearfish Bike Path, and finish at the BHSU Lyle Hare Stadium. The 10K will start at the BHSU Lyle Hare Stadium, continue on the Spearfish bike path to Spearfish Canyon and also finish at the Lyle Hare Stadium. Event day registration will be from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.

Black Hills State University will host the Gala Celebration of the Arts, Saturday, June 9, in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.  The Gala is the opening event for the Johanna Meier Opera Theater Institute, a two-week program for advanced singers from across the United States. The program will be an enjoyable variety of short selections from the worlds of music, dance, and literature, as well as renowned Greek pianist Charis Dimaras.
