The Black Hills State University music department presents two spring choral concerts this week. The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform Sunday, April 10 at 2:30 p.m. and the Women’s Chorus and Community Chorale will perform Tuesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. Both performances will be held in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.

Black Hills State University will offer a non-credit Private Pilot Ground School course, taught by a Certified Flight Instructor (CFII) with Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) rating. The 10-week course will be held on the BHSU campus Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning May 12.

The world premiere of the Second Concertino for Piano and Chamber Ensemble composed by Dr. Symeon Waseen, associate professor of music at Black Hills State University, will be performed with the Dakota Chamber Orchestra at their spring concert Sunday, April 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus.

The 2011 Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Facility Design Award of Excellence was presented to BHSU and MHTN Architects, Inc. during the annual ACUI conference this month in Chicago.

Black Hills State University will host the 13th Annual Black Hills Research Symposium in Clare and Josef Meier Hall March 22-24. In addition to showcasing BHSU student research, the symposium will present a keynote address by Dr. Stephen Caliendo, associate professor of political science at North Central College at Naperville, Ill., Thursday, March 24 at 2 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.
