Richard (Dick) DuBois, artist and longtime professor of art at Black Hills State University, died May 21. Dick, who began teaching art at BHSU in 1969, officially retired in 2004 although he continued to teach and paint.

Black Hills State University psychology major Kaitlin Schneider, who started her collegiate career while still a senior at Sturgis Brown High School, has spent the last several years involved in a variety of research projects, one which awarded her the top undergraduate oral presentation at this year’s Black Hills Research Symposium (BHRS).While her time as a BHSU undergraduate will come to an end tomorrow, Schneider’s career in academia is just beginning.

Black Hills State University’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and become a “green” campus is being recognized nationally. The University’s dining services was recently notified that The Hive, the campus dining facility, and The Buzz Shack, a coffee and snack shop, have both been designated as 2 Star Certified Green Restaurants by the Green Restaurant Association (GRA.)
