Black Hills State University mass communications students gained on-the-job training from professionals in the field during a recent job shadow day in Denver.The event was sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America, the nation’s largest community of public relations and communications professionals. Five students from the University’s PR Club attended the shadow day.

Black Hills State University will hold a musical tribute in memory of Guido Della Vecchia, a prominent Spearfish and Black Hills figure who devoted his life to promoting music and the arts.Della Vecchia died last month at age 82 from complications from pneumonia. The celebration of his life through music is Sunday, April 28 at 4 p.m. in the Clare & Josef Meier Recital Hall and will feature the BHSU choirs, Black Hills singers and music by international artists.

More than 400 candidates will be recognized for graduation during Black Hills State University’s 165th commencement ceremony Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center. Candidates for the spring 2013 BHSU graduation include 45 master’s degree candidates, 362 bachelor’s candidates and 22 associate degree candidates.
