| Dr. Andrey Reznikov
Black Hills State University faculty member Dr. Andrey Reznikov, associate professor in the department of humanities, recently attended and presented research at the 18th annual Society for the Interdisciplinary Study of Social Imagery (SISSI) conference March 13-15 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The conference’s theme was “The Image of the Outsider in Literature, Media, and Society.”
Reznikov’s research presentation, titled “Anti-Proverbs: Outsiders’ Look at Traditional Wisdom,” analyzed the relationships between traditional proverbs and modern proverbs, often called anti-proverbs, in English and Russian. Depending on the type of relationship between the original and altered proverb, Reznikov tentatively classified them into several groups based on the form of the proverb and the meaning within it. The research is also incorporated into a larger project that will be published next year.
He has been a member of the BHSU faculty since 2004, following over 20 years of teaching English in Russia. Reznikov earned his master’s degree in English Philology and Translation and doctoral degree in English Philology from St. Petersburg University in Russia.
