Sociology students inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta

Black Hills State University sociology students were inducted into the BHSU Gamma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD), an international sociology honors society.

Erin Rogers, senior psychology major from Custer; Lisa Herman-Spilde, junior sociology major from St. Onge; Deborah Red Day Wilson, junior American Indian studies major from Spearfish; Jenny Stevens, junior sociology major from Tongue River, Wyo.; and Kayla Sauber, senior human services major from Stanley, N.D., were inducted during a recent ceremony.

To join AKD, students must have completed four sociology courses, be of junior status, and have a 3.0 GPA in their sociology courses and in all other coursework. The purpose of the honor society is to promote scholarship, but the focus has always been fellowship for students and faculty. The society sponsors essay contests and funds for student travel.
