Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede Rodeo to be held April 24-25

The annual Black Hills State University Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede Rodeo will be held Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25 at the Seven Down Arena.

Last year, the Yellow Jacket Stampede was renamed to honor Will Lantis, who passed away the previous August, for his commitment to BHSU rodeo. Lantis was president of Lantis Enterprises, a family-owned company that operates assisted-living and long-term health-care facilities in Montana, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. He is remembered as a great American cowboy who fulfilled a dream when he built and operated the Seven Down Arena.

Thursday’s events include slack at 1:30 p.m. and performance at 7 p.m. Friday, the barrel race slack will be held at 10 a.m., performance at 1 p.m., and short-go at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the rodeo are $7 for adults, $5 for students (student ID required), and children under 12 are free.
