BHSU staff member honored with graduate student award

Fink
Patrick Fink, admissions representative at Black Hills State University, recently received an award from the South Dakota College Personnel Association (SDCPA) for his research on professional development trends of new student affairs professionals.

Fink, one of three honorees for the yearly SDCPA graduate student award, was asked to make a presentation at the statewide mid-winter conference. His presentation focused on what student affairs professionals can do to better serve and train new employees, thus creating higher retention of those employees.

Each year, the SDCPA invites graduate students to participate in an award competition to explore a topic of interest, which has bearing on student affairs work. This year's theme was "Building Student Success" with 17 representatives from BHSU in attendance.

After graduating from BHSU in 2006, Fink worked briefly for a private college before joining the BHSU admissions staff in August 2007. He is currently completing coursework for a master’s degree in counseling and human resource development with an emphasis in student affairs administration.
