The master’s degree in education programs at Black Hills State University are getting national attention. BHSU was named one of the 50 Most Affordable Small Colleges for a Master’s in Education 2016 by TopEducationDegrees.org.
BHSU offers master’s degree in education programs in Curriculum and Instruction, Secondary Education, and Reading.
Dr. Sharman Siebenthal Adams, dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at BHSU, said several formats are available for the master’s at BHSU including online, face-to-face, and accelerated programs to prepare working adults to transition into teaching careers.
“The variety of master’s-level education programs offered by the College create an ideal university setting for individuals interested in pursuing a graduate degree,” said Adams, noting the opportunity for students to select coursework leading to a master’s in math education, science education, education technology, or strategic leadership.
“For individuals who have already obtained their bachelor’s degree, we also offer a wonderful option for those who are now interested in teaching at the secondary level,” added Adams.
In their release, TopEducationDegrees.org stated that the colleges on the list “represent an impressive array of choices for those interested in a master’s in education.” The release also noted that the combination of demand for highly qualified teachers, along with increases in salary afforded to teachers with an advanced degree, make a master’s in education highly sought after.
