The 7th Annual Red Shirt Cultural Holiday Exchange, sponsored by BHSU, has begun their fall toy drive on the second floor landing of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union. Participants are encouraged to choose an “angel child” and place a corresponding unwrapped toy under the tree.
The University Bookstore and Pens, Etc. have also assembled school supply boxes that can be purchased for a $10 donation. Monetary donations, new clothing, and school or basic first-aid kit medical supplies will also be accepted. Donated funds will be used to purchase more children’s gifts.
Friday, Dec. 7 is the deadline for donations. Drop-off sites include the Student Union, Donald B. Young Fitness and Athletic Center, Clare and Josef Meier Hall, and Jonas Hall rooms 103 and 126.
Sponsors include Lakota Omniciye, Tiospaye, Inc., the BHSU Community-University-Resource-Exchange (C-U-R-E) office, and the University Bookstore. Several students, faculty, staff, and alumni will spend an entire day in classrooms at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation before the gift exchange at the end of the school day.
