BHSU Writing Center director elected to regional board

Deaver Traywick, Black Hills State University writing center director, was recently elected as an at-large member of the board for the Midwest Writing Center Association (MWCA).

The election took place at the open membership meeting at the end of the recent MWCA Conference in Kansas City, Mo., October 25-28.  Board member duties include planning the annual conference, publishing a quarterly newsletter, coordinating state writing center consortia, and representing the region on the International Writing Centers Association board.

“I’m happy to be able to join them.  MWCA covers a huge region, from Michigan to Missouri and north to the Dakotas, but we have an especially strong contingent of writing center directors in South Dakota,” said Traywick.  “I hope my position on this board strengthens the influence our South Dakota writing centers can have across the region.”

MWCA is a regional organization devoted to the development of writing center theory in the Midwest.  Members from Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio participate in conferences and active discussions involving the development of writing center theory.
