BHSU hosts diversity talk

king_bruce_web.jpgThe Black Hills State University international education program recently hosted a presentation by Bruce King, a leader of diversity change in higher education, in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room.

King talked about his experiences and his role as chief diversity officer during his presentation, titled “There’s Diversity in Them Thar Hills!”.  He discussed the challenges facing the higher education system in South Dakota as it tries to provide opportunities for underrepresented groups.

John Glover, director of the BHSU Center for American Indian Studies (CAIS), said, “Although Bruce has only been in South Dakota a few years, he has a clear appreciation of the state and the nation’s changing demographic and diversity challenges facing higher education in meeting the educational needs of its college students.”
