BHSU faculty promotions announced

 

Black Hills State University faculty who were tenured and promoted from left to right are, Bert Juhrend, Kathleen Matthew, Tim Steckline, Laura Colmenero-Chilberg, Ann Porter, Ryan Clark, Gina Gibson, Parthasarathi Nag, Scott Clarke and David Bergmann. Not pictured is David Wilson.

 
Black Hills State University recognized 11 faculty members for their promotions during faculty welcome week.

The following BHSU professors were promoted:

·         Dr. Bert Juhrend, promoted to professor of theater, School of Arts and Humanities

·         Dr. Kathleen Matthew, tenured and promoted to professor of science, School of Education

·         Dr. Tim Steckline, promoted to professor of speech, School of Arts and Humanities

·         Dr. Laura Colmenero-Chilberg, promoted to professor of sociology, School of Behavioral Sciences

·         Ann Porter, promoted professor of art, School of Arts and Humanities

·         Dr. Ryan Clark, tenured and promoted to associate professor of communication studies, School of Arts and Humanities

·         Gina Gibson, tenured and promoted to associate professor of digital communication, School of Arts and Humanities

·         Dr. Parthasarathi Nag, promoted to professor of mathematics, School of Math and Social Sciences

·         Dr. Scott Clarke, tenured and promoted to associate professor of digital communication, School of Arts and Humanities

·         Dr. David Bergmann, promoted to professor of biology, School of Natural Sciences

·         David Wilson, promoted to professor of art, School of Arts and Humanities

 

Dr. Rod Custer, BHSU provost, said the promotions are “the result of substantial accomplishments consistent with rigorous standards set by each of the disciplines.”

Tenure and promotion applications were screened by a committee of the faculty and were endorsed by BHSU President Dr. Tom Jackson and approved by the South Dakota Board of Regents.
