Yellow Jacket Auction set to raise money for scholarships

Black Hills State University and the Yellow Jacket Foundation will hold the 17th Annual Yellow Jacket/Gold Dust Benefit Auction Friday, Oct. 12 at the Spearfish Park Pavilion.

“This is a great event for Black Hills State,” said John Kietzmann, director of development at BHSU.“Everybody wins at an event like this. The students benefit as well as the people purchasing the items.”

Proceeds from the auction benefit scholarships at BHSU. The silent auction is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. with the live portion starting at 7 p.m.

“We have a wide variety of items this year,” said Kietzmann. “I hope that people come to the auction this year in a giving mood because we have a number of items that could really generate some scholarship money for Black Hills State.”

Auction items include four Vikings tickets and a $200 travel allowance; two rounds of golf for four people and a night's lodging at Sutton Bay Golf Course (meals and beverages included); gaming coupons and use of the Gold Dust shuttle (with some restrictions); an autographed basketball from NBA legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar; and numerous other items.

The auction is open to everyone. Admission is $5 per person; appetizers will be served.
