The theme for Black Hills State University’s Swarm Week 2007 is BUZZing through the Decades. Events begin Monday, Oct. 1 and continue through Saturday, Oct. 6 with the finale – parade, tailgating and football game.
"We are making plans for a tremendous Swarm Day celebration, and we’d like to invite community members and BHSU alumni from all over to join us," BHSU President Kay Schallenkamp says.
Homecoming week begins with the coronation ceremony Monday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union. Tuesday, Oct. 2, BHSU students will host a kiddie carnival, which is free to all area children.
Friday night, Oct. 5 will be Spirit Night as the BHSU Yellow Jacket volleyball team plays at the Young Center at 7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 6 is Swarm Day. Following the parade, fans are invited to tailgate in the Young Center parking lot in anticipation of the big football match up – as the Yellow Jackets take on the School of Mines Hardrockers. For those who don’t want to cook at the tailgate, Burger King will be cooking on site - a whopper and drink for just $1 – and all of that money is donated to student scholarships.
Black Hills State University fans plan to "paint the stands gold" by wearing special bright gold "Fear the Sting" t-shirts. To get your gold shirt stop by the BHSU Bookstore.
