Rytis Pakrosnis and Vyktorija Cepukiene will visit Black Hills State University Wednesday, Sept.19 at 3 p.m. to present their research at a colloquium in Clare and Josef Meier Hall, room 205.
Pakrosnis and Cepukiene, representing the Department of Health Psychology at Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas, Lithuania, were invited to BHSU by Dr. Dean Myers, vice president of Academic Affairs. Their visit to BHSU is a capstone experience which follows a six year academic program of study for their doctoral degrees in Health Psychology.
Pakrosnis and Vyktorija have been teaching undergraduate general psychology for the past two years at Vytautas Magnus as a requirement for their degrees. Their doctoral research was influenced as an outgrowth of their connection with Dr. Lois Flagstad, vice president of Student Life at BHSU, and Dr. James Slate Fleming, director of the BHSU Counseling Center and International Studies. Flagstad and Fleming have taught at Vytautas Magnus University as visiting faculty since 1999.
During their doctoral studies Pakrosnis and Vyktorija have become known in Eastern Europe for their successful treatment of high-risk children in foster care settings using a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy treatment approach.
