Neil Simon’s "The Odd Couple" kicks off eighth season of BHSU Summer Stage

The eighth season of the Black Hills State University Summer Stage series begins Thursday, June 5 with the female version of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple featuring two leading ladies and a night of Trivial Pursuit with their girlfriends. The show runs June 5, 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and June 8 at 2:30 p.m.

Hilarity remains the same as Simon’s original featuring an uptight, neat-freak roommate, and the careless slob she lives with.

The BHSU Summer Stage schedule includes two more productions: Oliver!, a musical based on the Charles Dickens’s novel “Oliver Twist,” will run for two weeks June 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and June 15 and 22 at 2:30 p.m. The season wraps up with Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig with performances June 26, 27, and 28 at 7:30 p.m. and June 29 at 2:30 p.m.

Several BHSU graduates, current students and community members will perform in the three productions including: Theo Schmidt, Steve Boring, Elysia Pederson, Cole Stocking, Shonee Singer, Melissa Barnard, Kassi Blue, Rachel Ridinger, Melissa Mason, Tyler Steffens and Peter Amendolar.

All performances will be in the Pangburn Theatre. The theatre is handicapped accessible. Reservations are recommended. Ticket prices are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors $9 for students and $6 for ages 17 and under. Season passes are also available: $35 for adults, $30 for seniors and $20 for students. Summer Stage will once again be offering rides from the parking lot to the theatre.
