The Black Hills State University Chamber Singers, Concert Choir and Men’s Ensemble will perform during a concert Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at the Terra Sancta Retreat Center in Rapid City.
The BHSU Concert Choir is a 40-voice mixed ensemble. The choir performs a varied repertoire, both accompanied and a cappella, from Renaissance motets to American spirituals, as well as larger works. This concert will feature works by Johannes Brahms and Edward Elgar.
The BHSU Chamber Singers is a select ensemble of 18 student singers. They specialize in a cappella literature that was written for smaller groups. The Chamber Singers perform the Madrigal Dinner each fall in Renaissance garb, singing madrigals, motets, and carols. Each spring, the singers perform a more varied repertoire ranging from Renaissance madrigals to romantic part-songs to settings of popular songs.
