Swarm Day king and queen candidates have been selected at Black Hills State University.
The homecoming week events kick off Monday, Oct. 1 with the coronation of the Swarm Days royalty at 7 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Market Place. The festivities continue throughout the week concluding with the parade and football game against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Saturday, Oct. 6.
The theme for homecoming this year is “Buzzing through the Decades,” with each day forming its festivities around a particular decade.
The homecoming king candidates are BHSU seniors, Scott Luikart, a speech communications major from Custer; Ian Vytlacil, a theatre major from Box Elder; Blake Schumacher, a human services and sociology major from Hot Springs; Joseph Herzog, a mass communications major from Miles City, Mont.; Casey Allington, a psychology major from Glenrock, Wyo.; and Scott Schiefelbein, an industrial technology education major from Clear Lake.
The queen candidates are seniors, Amber Elliott, a speech communications major from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Heather Smith, a mass communications major from DeSmet; Rachel Nelson, a history major from Vermillion; Stacy Anderson, a psychology major from Douglas Wyo.; Kelly Kirk, a history major from Beulah, N.D.; and Tiffanie Gebhart, a marketing major from Lemmon.
