| Black Hills State University students hand out candy to local children during last year's Swarm Day Parade.
Black Hills State University's annual Swarm Days homecoming celebration kicks off Monday, Sept. 30 and runs through Saturday, Oct. 5.
A variety of events for the “Swarm Olympics” themed celebration will be held throughout the week including an Olympic Village Party, the hike to the H, a kiddie carnival, coronation, disc golf tournament, and the annual Swarm Days parade. This year’s parade theme is Swarm Olympics in recognition of the 2014 Winter Olympics taking place in Sochi, Russia, in February. Community members, as well as BHSU faculty, staff and students, are welcome to take part in the parade. All entries are encouraged to display BHSU spirit and follow an Olympic Games theme.
Line-up for the parade begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center parking lot. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and will proceed down Jackson Boulevard and then down Main Street. Following the parade there will be the tailgate party in the Young Center parking lot starting at 11 a.m. The BHSU Yellow Jacket football team takes on the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers at 1 p.m.
