BHSU announces fall scholarship recipients

Black Hills State University has awarded 44 scholarships totaling more than $170,000 to new students enrolled for this fall. The recipients, which come from all over the country, include:

·         Denim Lind, daughter of Greg and Jackie Lind of Sheridan, Wyo., received the Coca-Cola Scholarship for $1,000 and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $4,000.

·         Lauren Yowell, daughter of Janet Yowell of Golden, Colo., received the Career Engagement Award Program Scholarship for $6,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Krystal Nelson, daughter of Rex and Patti Nelson of Gordon, Neb., received the Career
Engagement Award Program Scholarship for $6,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Emily Shelton, daughter of Jeff Shelton and Linda Shelton of Laurel, Mont., received the Career Engagement Award Program Scholarship for $6,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Hanna Doeden, daughter of Mindy Doeden and Greg Doeden of Silverton, Ore., received the Career Engagement Award Scholarship for $6,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Tessa Benson, daughter of Jana and Matt Osborn, and Marty and Karen Benson of Alliance, Neb., received the Career Engagement Program award for $6,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Andee Geist, daughter of Tim and Betty Geist of Aberdeen, received the Coca-Cola Scholarship for $1,500, the Tom and Judy Flickema Scholarship for $550, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $4,000.

·         Donald Decker, son Steve and Beth Decker of Huron, received the Premier Bankcard scholarship for $2,000 and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $4,000.

·         Bobby Russell, son of Robert and Cheryl Russell of Omaha, Neb., received the Career Engagement Award Program Scholarship for $6,000.

·         Tabetha Orr, daughter of Lyle and Donna Orr of Douglas, Wyo., received the Career Engagement Award Program Scholarship for $6,000.

·         Destiny Durham, daughter of Anita Hansen and James Durham of Rapid City, received the Career Engagement Award Program Scholarship for $6,000.

·         Jacquline Gergely, daughter of Earl and Patricia Gergely of Greeley, Colo., received the Coca-Cola Scholarship for $2,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $4,000.

·         Allison Anderson, daughter of Terry and Pam Anderson of Sturgis, received the Career Engagement Award Scholarship for $6,000.

·         Maria Steckline, daughter of Jenny Braig and Tim Steckline of Spearfish, received the Vucurevich Math and Science Scholarship for $1,500, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $4,000.

·         Shaley Lensegrav, daughter of Les and Cindy Lensegrav of Bison, received the Gil and Trudy Hause Scholarship for $150, the Francis L. Waugh Scholarship for $475, the Coca-Cola Scholarship for $500, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $4,000.

·         Rachel Munce, daughter of Randy and Wanetta Munce of Sioux Falls, received the Gay Lynn Scholarship for $700, the Premier Bankcard scholarship for $750, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·      Courtney Cassen, daughter of Craig and Brenda Cassen of Sturgis, received the Walter Higbee Scholarship for $1,000 and a Border Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Shelly Peck, daughter of Rich and Trish Peck of Bison, received the Wells Fargo Business Scholarship for $1,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Amanda Hupp, daughter of Terry and Susan Hupp of Spearfish, received the Irene Leedom Scholarship for $625, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Bailey Stover, daughter of Vaughn and Stephanie Stover of New Underwood, received the Walter Higbee Scholarship for $1,000, the Robert and Judy Dryden Scholarship for $525, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Brooke Hicks, daughter of Ken and Judy Hicks of Greeley, Colo., received the Rollin Miaze Endowment Scholarship for $500, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarships for $3,000.

·     Lexi Nehlich, daughter of Darin and Bonnie Nehlich of Ipswich, received the Walter Higbee Scholarship for $1,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Sonja Pederson, daughter of Jeff and Marilee Pederson of Sioux Falls, received the Wells Fargo Business Scholarship for $1,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Jacob Thomas, son of Rich and Kay Thomas of Watertown, received the Walter Higbee Scholarship for $1,000, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Erin Casey, daughter of Stefan and Amy Casey of Norfolk, Neb., received the Premier Bankcard Scholarship for $1,000 and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Misty Ballek, daughter of Dan and Julie Ballek of Buffalo, Wyo., received an education scholarship for $1,000 and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Elana Stalder, daughter of Lornie and Hollie Stalder of Spearfish, received the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund for $750, the Bryce and Clara Freshman Scholarship for $250, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Kasondra Ager, daughter of Tom and Sandy Ager of Spearfish, received the Edith Gutsche Anderson Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Bailey Wilkinson, daughter of Dallas and Lesley Wilkinson of Rapid City, received the University Advancement Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Marisa Sokoloski, daughter of John and LaNee Sokoloski of Wibaux, Mont., received a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Laketon McLaughlin, son of Rhonda McDonnell of Wall, received a business scholarship for $800, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Nicholas Selig, son of Vernon and Patricia Selig of Rapid City, received Business scholarship for $800, and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Kelsey Benson, daughter of Rodney and Tracey Benson of Spearfish, received the Paige Perry-Reeser Memorial Scholarship for $500 and a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $3,000.

·         Michael Kruse, son of Michele and Todd Rickenbach and the late David Kruse of Chadron, Neb., received a Buzz Bonus Scholarship for $2,000.

·         Morgan Larson, daughter of Barb and Brad Larson of Mitchell, received the Vucurevich Math & Science Scholarship for $1,500.

·         Savannah Miller, daughter of Mike and Promise Miller of Baker, Mont., received the CinKel Vic Scholarship for $1,000.

·         Lacy Harkin, daughter of Mike and Donna Harkin of Rapid City, received the Dorcile Fowler Memorial Scholarship for $1,000.

·         Kailey Sawvell, daughter of Jody and Laniece Sawvell of Wall, received the Coca-Cola Scholarship for $1,000.

·         Tyler Johnson, son of Mark and Michelle Johnson of Yankton, received the Bob and Vicki Worth Scholarship for $1,000.

·         Shandell Clutter, daughter of Troy and Shawna Clutter of Sturgis, received the Mae and Chester Garrett Scholarship for $900.

·         Macey Heil, daughter of Rod and Kim Heil of Riverton, Wyo., received the Marc Boesen Scholarship for $800.

·         Samantha Huston, daughter of June and Doug Hutson of Philip, received the Joe Giacometto Memorial Scholarship for $750.

·         Richard Panton, son of Gary and Kim Panton of Rapid City, received the Rapid City Information Night Scholarship for $500.

·         Bonnie Kenny of Gillette, Wyo., received the Gillette Information Night Scholarship for $500.

·      Janae Welbig, daughter of Brian Welbig and Jacki Welbig of Rapid City, received the Catherine Schmaltz Jacobsen Scholarship for $475.

·         Travis Ladwig, son of Brian and Lori Ladwig of Gillette, Wyo., received the Pete and Ruth Rolando-Zucco Scholarship for $200.
