BHSU hosts business plan competition

The Center for Business and Entrepreneurship at Black Hills State University recently hosted the second annual Business Plan Competition. The competition was open to all current BHSU students. Students that participated were, front row: Trevor Abernathie, recent BHSU graduate in business administration from Rapid City; Ashley Oldenkamp, junior business administration major from Mitchell; Virginia Williamson, junior business administration major from Spearfish; Hayley Jones, junior business administration major from Mitchell; and  Jesse Ronke, junior business administration major from Gettysburg. The Center for Business and Entrepreneurship at Black Hills State University hosted the second annual Business Plan Competition. The competition was open to all current BHSU students.   

In addition to preparing a complete business plan that was evaluated by a team of judges, each student or team delivered a formal presentation and answered questions. Students were evaluated on creativity, presentation skills, realism and the quality of the business plan.
First-place winners were: Trevor Abernathie, recent BHSU graduate in business administration from Rapid City; Hayley Jones, junior business administration major from Mitchell; and Ashley Oldenkamp, junior business administration major from Mitchell.  

Earning second- and third-place honors were: Matt Klein, sophomore business administration major from Lead; Adam Jones, junior business administration major from Spearfish; Jesse Ronke, junior business administration major from Gettysburg; and Don Wolkenhauer, junior business administration major from Sturgis.

Judges for the Business Plan Competition were Bryan Walker, Joe Jorgenson, TJ Gusso, Greg Kruskamp, Mark Young, Bob Meyer, Eric Neis, Jim Voyles, Dave Donat, and Josh Horak.
