BHSU to hold ceremony at UCRC to recognize engineering technology students

Black Hills State University will host an awards ceremony in recognition of the graduating engineering technology students at the University Center- Rapid City lecture hall Monday, April 29 at 2 p.m.

The ceremony will recognize graduates in three certificate programs in the Engineering Technology Program including: Advanced Computer Aided Manufacturing, Energy Management, and Lean Concepts Management.  The event will contain a presentation, introduction of the candidates, followed by a brief social.

The Energy Management Technology Certificate (EMTC) prepares people to identify and reduce waste within industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities. An EMTC will serve incumbent workers in South Dakota’s manufacturing community, improving profitability and increasing market share; public agencies such as school districts, local governments, and educational agencies; and commercial organizations of every type, improving efficiency.

The Advanced Computer Aided Manufacturing Certificate (ACAM) addresses the ongoing need to train current and future workers for today’s highly computer integrated industrial manufacturing environment. In addition to integrating several computer software systems and machines, students learn manufacturing operational procedures, manufacturing design principles, machine safety/safeguarding, and proper manual industrial machine use and care.

The LEAN Concepts and Management Certificate program is designed for all levels of employees from upper management to the production floor personnel. The program expands on the standard lean development procedure of learning, referred to as lean tools. The certificate addresses the mechanics of lean as well as the skills necessary to be leaders in implementing a lean environment.
