Black Hills State University theatre will present the Pulitzer Prize winning play “How I Learned to Drive” by Paula Vogel.
The play will be performed Feb. 21, 22, and 23 in the Pangburn Hall Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for community members and $6 for seniors. A special performance is scheduled for March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dahl Fine Arts Center in Rapid City.
The play is a wildly funny and devastating examination of a troubled relationship between a young girl, played by Melissa Barnard, and an older man, played by Jacob Roman. The story is about a woman who learns the rules of the road and life from behind the wheel.
Other cast members, Hannah Kloiber, Nicholas Nettle, and Elysia Pederson, form a Modern Greek chorus who play numerous roles in the young girl’s journey from pre-adolescence to adulthood. The play is directed by Dr. Pamela Wegner, BHSU professor of theatre and speech, with Shonee Singer as the assistant director/stage manager.
“How I Learned to Drive” is recommended for mature audiences due to adult content.
